MARY ASKED BY ALICE COOPER'S DENNIS DUNAWAY TO PROMOTE HIS BIOGRAPHY!

Dennis Dunaway, the original bassist for the Alice Cooper group, asked Mary to help promote his biography "Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!". Along with the photograph (taken by Mary's husband/guitarist Jim Marchese) Dennis asked Mary

MARY AND JIM HELP RAISE MONEY FOR LI'S FOOD BANKS AT ANNUAL "ELVIS SHOW"

Mary and Jim were again part of the annual "Elvis Show" at the Boulton Center in Bay Shore, NY, to raise money and collect food for Long Island's food banks through RockCANRoll. The yearly event has raised thousands for those in need, and is always fun for the many talented musicians and vocalists who join for the cause.

MARY GAINS U.S. CITIZENSHIP

In May 2013 Mary was presented with an American certificate of citizenship, giving her dual citizen status.  "After being a permanent resident for many years, I am honored to officially be a U.S. citizen!"


MARY LAMONT PERFORMS AT UNIVERSITY CAFE'S ANNUAL BOB DYLAN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

In May 2013 Mary and husband Jim Marchese were part of the annual Bob Dylan Birthday Celebration at the University Cafe -Stony Brook, hosted by Charlie Backfish. Mary and Jim did "Don't Think Twice" with the band, which included Pete & Maura Kennedy, Rod MacDonald, Russ Seeger, Brian Kachejian, Steve Kaplan, Bill Herman.

JIM MARCHESE DONATES SPRINGSTEEN PRINT TO "PHOTOGRAPHERS FOR SANDY RELIEF"
Mary's husband/guitar player Jim Marchese donated a print to Backstreet.com's "Photographers for Sandy Relief" effort, with all proceeds going to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to help families displaced/struggling from Hurricane Sandy. 
Jim, who was tour photographer for Bruce Springsteen during The River Tour donated an Artist's Proof photograph of Bruce and Clarence.

JIM DONATES PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT FOR KACF SILENT AUCTION
Mary's husband and ML Band guitarist Jim Marchese donated a photograph of Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemons onstage, taken in Stockholm, Sweden when Jim was tour photographer, for a silent auction at the Kristen Ann Carr Fund's annual "Night to Remember" at Tribeca Grill in New York. Signed by Bruce, the print raised $5,250 for the fund. Nice, Jim!

Mary & Jim ran into legendary promotor/producer Sid Bernstein at Gene Cornish's birthday party at the Red Lion NYC in May. Mr. Bernstein, who brought the Beatles to the U.S. and managed the Rascals, is 92, sharp, funny and charming.  Go Sid!

MARY/JIM & OTHER AFM LOCAL 802 MUSCIANS GATHER TO RAISE FUNDS
FOR NASHVILLE MUSICIANS

Nashville suffered a devastating flood, which damaged a lot of Nashville musicians' homes and instruments.  New York's Local 802 American Fed of Musicians (of which Mary & Jim are members) got together at Hill Country in New York City and raised close to $10,000 to assist their Nashville fellow musicians.  The lineup included Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal, Greg Trooper, Eric Weissberg, Footch Fischetti, Roger Mason, Jonatha Brooke, Danny Weiss, Tony Trischka, Skip Ward, Barry Mitterhoff, Laura Cantrell, Richard Frank & Stony Creek, Jon Sholle, Cliff Hackford, Mike Weatherly, Kenny Kosek, Mary Lamont and Jim Marchese (who also photographed the event for Local 802).  It was a stellar evening!

JIM & MARY AT KACF FUND EVENT AT ROBERT DENIRO'S TRIBECA GRILL, NYC
Mary and Jim were invited guests at the Kristen Ann Carr Fund event, where Jim donated one of his limited edition prints of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band for auction (which went for $1000 for sarcoma research/treatment).  Little Steven Van Zandt and his wife Maureen were honored as major contributors to the cause.  And, for the first time in 40 years, all four original members of The Rascals (Dino Danelli, Gene Cornish, Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati) played a power-packed set to the adoring crowd, with Bruce and Steven sitting in on "Good Lovin'".  What a night!

MARY & JIM PERFORM AT "ZEVONATHON" AT BANJO JIM'S, NYC
Mary and Jim were asked to perform the Warren Zevon song "Disorder In the House"
(Warren was featured with Bruce Springsteen on Warren's final CD before his death), during a stellar night of Zevon songs called "Zevon-a-thon" at Banjo Jim's on 11/12/09.  The event also included vocal performances by host Nate Schweber, Nick Beaudoing, Joe Cassady, Emory Joseph, Serena Jean Southam, Steve Welner, Eleanor Whitmore, Eric "Roscoe" Ambel, Mary Lee Kortes, Jesse Bates, Charlene McPherson, Chip Robinson, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Randy Lee & Tony Graci, Mike Storey, Andy Mullen, Steve Strunsky, John "Chico" Finn, Lil Mo' & Drina Seay.  All joined in a "Werewolves of London" finale. It was a howling good time! Eric "Roscoe" Ambel called "the Mary Lamont/Jim Marchese version of Disorder In the House one of the highlights of Zevonathon"

MARY & JIM MEET LEGENDARY ROCK PHOTOGRAPHERS
Mary and Jim had the golden opportunity to meet Jim Marshall and Ethan Russell, who more than made their mark in rock photography.  They both had shows of their work at Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC. Jim Marshall has photographed jazz legends John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis, many rock greats such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and those that defined the San Francisco scene.  Ethan Russell, one of the foremost rock photographers in the world, is the only photographer to have shot album covers of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who.  Two excellent evenings of great stories and outstanding images!

The New Rascals, featuring Dino Danelli and Gene Cornish, performed a most excellent show at the Boulton Center on Long Island to an enthusiastic crowd, and Mary & Jim were happy to hang with them before and after the show.  Jim and Mary have worked with Dino Danelli on several photo projects and gotten to know Gene over the years as well.  Talented and sweet guys!

MARY & JIM GUESTS AT AVERY FISHER HALL CONCERT
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the US and China, and the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, “Redwood, Sino-US Friendship Mid-autumn Festival Concert”, was held at Lincoln Center, Avery Fisher Hall in NYC on the afternoon of Oct 4.  The redwood, which was planted by former Chinese and US leaders in China , has been the symbol of Sino-US friendship. Mary & Jim were invited guests of this concert, and were happy to see soprano Julia Zhu, whom they knew from the Mary Lamont Band's China tour, and who performed American and Chinese opera selections at the concert.

Mary Lamont and Jim Marchese were honored to be a part of the annual WUSB Dylan Birthday show at the University Cafe at SUNY Stony Brook, NY.  The sold out show arranged by WUSB's Charlie Backfish featured an amazing group of performers, including Pete and Maura Kennedy, Rod MacDonald, Caroline Doctorow, Russ Seeger, Rob Stein and Brian Kachejian, with sound by Bill Herman of Paradiddle Records. Joining Jim and Mary on their portion of the show was Russ Seeger on fiddle, Rob Stein on pedal steel, and Pete Kennedy on guitar – a magical gathering!

MARY & JIM MEET UP WITH LITTLE STEVEN AT KRISTEN ANN CARR FUND EVENT
Mary and Jim ran into an old pal Little Steven (aka Steve Van Zandt of the E Street Band, aka Silvio of "The Sopranos") at the annual "A Night to Remember" event to benefit the Kristen Ann Carr Fund.  Jim photographed Steven's first two album covers (and Mary styled and built the set for the 2nd album) and was his wedding photographer.  Steven R. Schirripa (Bobby Bacala, Tony's brother-in-law on "The Sopranos") came to support the event as well.
Jim donated a Bruce Springsteen print (taken in Brussels on tour with Bruce) for auction to support the Fund.

Mary had the pleasure of singing harmony on a special song, Raven Girl, during the wonderful Caroline Doctorow's set at Stephen Talkhouse.  Raven Girl, written by Richard Farina, is a track from Caroline's fabulous new CD, Another Country-The songs of Mimi & Richard Farina.  Be sure to see Caroline when she performs in your area!

Mary & Jim had the wonderful opportunity to meet recording engineer Eddie Kramer at his photo show opening at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC.  Eddie presented an incredible show of his photographs (with beautiful colorization of some by AJ Newton) accompanied by multiple famous songs he engineered, featuring photos of Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and many more.  Wow, Eddie!

Mary & Jim stopped by the Rodeo Bar recently to see the amazing singer/guitarist Richard Frank with his most excellent band Stony Creek: Mike Weatherly, bass/vocals; Steve Holley, drums; Skip Krevens, pedal steel; Bruce Kirshner, fiddle/guitar.  Richard surprised Mary in the first set by asking her to get up and sing with the band.

Mary and band members Jim Marchese and Cosmo LoCricchio had the honor of opening for Canada's favorite Americana group Blackie & the Rodeo Kings at the University Cafe in Stony Brook, NY in November, as part of WUSB's Sunday Street Acoustic Series.  WUSB DJ Charlie Backfish, who puts together all of the Sunday Street shows, said, "Well, in our (almost) five years of doing concerts at The University Cafe, we've had some very memorable moments. This afternoon's show with Blackie and The Rodeo Kings (Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson) and Mary Lamont opening has to rank near the very top of our shows for sure. What an incredible afternoon!"

Long Island Country Queen


Country vocalist Mary Lamont and husband guitarist Jim Marchese, married for 23 years, led their
five-piece country band in entertaining an audience at Westport’s Levitt Pavilion tonight for the second consecutive year. Called the “Queen of Long Island Country” by Newsday, Lamont was twice voted Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year by the New Jersey Country Music Association, and was nominated Best Country Act by the Long Island Music Awards.

MARY & BAND PERFORM AT YWCA EVENT IN NYC

Mary and the band were the featured performers at YWCA's Family Day, celebrating 150 years.

MARY & JIM MEET AND SIT IN WITH BILL KIRCHEN
Mary Lamont and husband Jim Marchese had the pleasure of meeting the "Titan of the Telecaster", guitarist Bill Kirchen with his band Too Much Fun at their show at the Rockaway Lobster House in January.  Bill was of course one of the original members of the band Commander Cody & the Lost Planet Airmen... and he's the man behind that famous, fabulous lead in "Hot Rod Lincoln", among other amazing guitar work. Bill surprised Mary and Jim by asking if they'd like to sit in with the band - Wow!  Thanks Bill - a true honor.

JOHN LENNON PHOTO EXHIBITION FEATURES JIM MARCHESE IMAGE "DAKOTA MOURNING" The largest photograph in the Proud Galleries (London) John Lennon photo exhibition will be a 30X40" print taken by Mary Lamont's husband/guitar player Jim Marchese entitled "Dakota Mourning".  The photograph was made during the day of John Lennon memorial in Central Park a few days after his death in 1980.

Mary Lamont's husband/lead guitarist Jim Marchese had the largest number of photographs in a London group photo exhibition featuring images of Bruce Springsteen. Marchese was tour photographer for Bruce in Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Britain during Springsteen’s River tour. The photographs, which had never appeared in a gallery, were exhibited at Proud Galleries in London from October 26 – December 2, 2007.

MARY MEETS UP WITH EARL SCRUGGS AFTER A LONG TIME....
Mary and husband Jim Marchese had the pleasure of seeing Earl Scruggs perform at BB King's in NYC in October
(Earl's in his 80s and still astounding - go see him!).  When Mary was very young, she worked for Earl's booking agent and typed Earl's performance contracts, and had a great phone friendship with Earl's late great wife/manager Louise.  Mary got a chance to reminisce backstage with Earl and sons Randy and Gary.  What a thrill, what a legendary family!

HOW LUCKY CHINA MOVIE NOMINATED IN FILM FESTIVAL

The movie How Lucky China about the Mary Lamont Band China tour, directed by award-winning filmmaker Leslye Abbey, was nominated Best Documentary in the Long Island Big Fish Film Festival! 
About the film:  The United States and China Foundation picked THE MARY LAMONT BAND, an award-winning Long Island group, to represent American music in China.  This ground-breaking tour of Mainland China was the first of its kind for country music.  Mary and her band traveled over 23,000 miles and performed in Sheyang, Dalian, Guizhou Province, Xiamen, Beijing and Nanjing.  This movie follows the band on a magical musical tour across China, proving once again that music really is the universal language.
